College Of Charleston, Sepia

The College Of Charleston combines the old southern charm with a traditional college campus. The mixture makes for one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in a city known for its elegance.

The school was closed for break helping me to capture scenes without the hustle of most days.

Enough students were around to keep the college flavor though.

Founded in 1770, before the revolutionary war, this is one of the oldest educational institutions in the US.

The founders of the college include three signers of the Declaration of Independence (Edward Rutledge, Arthur Middleton and Thomas Heyward) and three signers of the United States Constitution (John Rutledge, Charles Pinckney and Charles Cotesworth Pinckney).

  1. I forwarded this to a cousin who is more of a niece and who graduated from the College of Charleston. She loved the pics and said this area was one of her favorite places. Thanks for the beautiful and unique photos!

    1. I still am in awe of many places in Charleston. A very unique place. 2 of those photographs are going in a gallery, I like them too 😀😀

    2. I’ve been there once many years ago. It’s a very special place, so much history, so much colorfulness (a word?), so much unique. It was stinkin’ hot though when I was there. I’m glad to hear that about the photos. You do a lot of great photos, but these were special.

    3. Thank you for your kind words. And yes, it can get hot. Surprising though we had no trouble adjusting. BTW, you think it’s hot in town ! Try swamps and marshes.
