Great Light, Great Flight, Great Blue

Everything was in my favor for these photographs. How often does that happen?

I was able to follow his full flight directly in front of me, and it was close enough to pull my long lens back to the sweet spot focal length.

    1. The Heron was looping around the marsh / rookery at the end of the day (we tend to shoot then). Flew right in front of me, and I had an open spot to follow the full left to right path. Locations typically have some type of obstruction like branches, Spanish Moss, etc.

Thanks. BTW, the reason for a flight like this is the Heron needs to approach the nest spot at just the right angle. A controlled crash landing so to speak. This tree has multiple Great Egret nests too. Fights break out if birds are out of place.
