A small series of images taken in a southern military cemetery, Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston has been a major port city since the mid 1600’s.
After the start of the US Civil, about 10 miles from this spot, the city was quickly under a naval blockade. The CSA navy had many blockade runners in the port of Charleston.
This particular cemetery, though mostly the site of Civil War casualties, is the final resting place for military members starting with the Revolutionary war on through WW II (that I am aware of).
