Shooting in places like this are next to impossible, so I keep doing it. The thing is, standing there you can take in the whole scene. Besides the visual you hear, smell. even touch (usually a bug).
This photograph has everything you can imagine. There is so much, and textures, and glare….
Sometimes I find the balance, most times not.
I have one of these of Florida’s Everglades. It has leading lines, beautiful foliage, water, depth, three different wading birds. But it just doesn’t work. But then again, if we love them maybe there is some magic there.
Ted, I took another look at this photo, full-screen. It makes a beautiful header but looking at it as a piece of art, my eyes want to go to the iris at the bottom as the primary focus point, but the three trees in the center back vie for that coveted part – and the trees win because of size and weight. I wonder is some tweaks in composition could change that.
If the trees take over, that would always be the focal point. Images like this, composition wise are rarely any good artistically. Besides, if you need to rebuild it wasn’t right in the first place 🙂
Ultimately I will just take another. I live here and it’s all around.
There are places I have been photographing for years. Have fun!
BTW, thanks for taking the time. A new pair of eyes is great !!
Cracking photo, Ted! When opened up full I feel I am right in that swamp amidst all that natural wonder!
Wow, thanks Pete. I find those shots difficult and I usually am never really satisfied with them. My own worse critic. 😀
I can be the same regarding being my own worst critic, but I think it keeps you on the edge of improving and trying to make the most of each shot, although it does not always work out as often as we would like.
Beautiful view into the inner depths Ted and the irises are like the icing on the cake, providing a nice little finishing flourish. I really like the shot.
Thanks so much 😳
It sounds a bit overwhelming yet beautiful as portrayed in your photo.
Thank you. I find them too busy. Of course I still keep taking them.
