The Northern Cardinal is pretty much everywhere in the US. Maybe a little scarce on the west coast but common all over.

Down here the birds are not as ‘pudgy’ as I am familiar with. They don’t need all that undercoat, it’s not cold.

Thank you. I think that particular bird was starting to lose the mating colors already.
This is one of those birds we had up north where I am from and also down here. I find myself comparing them and I probably should not. The environments are just so completely different.
