One of my favorite old homes in Charleston. I just recently found the tall stone posts out front were not to tie up a horse carriage at all.
The street here has an odd curve, the house set back. That’s because those stone posts were to moor your boat. A large stream, part of where the Ashley River met Charleston Harbor was right there.

I look at that street different know that’s for sure. The Charleston Harbor has a spot that is ‘new’ also. Bay Street is not on the bay 😀. Constant storms and hurricanes can do that.
