Green Heron On A Limb

When the Heron flew up on this branch I was convinced he would be gone before I could get in position. This spot was just too good.

He stayed right there long enough for me to close the distance and take these shots.

The limb here was hanging out over water. Right after these I tried to walk down the dike I was on, past him, to get the opposite side shots. That was pushing it…gone in a flash.

    1. I have always loved the coloring and antics of Green Heron. Up north it took years to get my first, and really distant, photograph. In the Lowcountry all these types of birds are common at some time of the year. Of course getting the opportunity still takes a little work.
