Peaceful Rookery Scene

A rookery is not all chaos and squabbles. Especially as the young birds grow older. Many times I take photographs of the tree line, undergrowth, and simple wider shots. These are images to grab a snap shot of what we see, and maybe find something hidden in a photo later on.

Above is a quiet moment in time.

The Great Blue young are starting short flights. Most of the time they are back at the nest. Flapping around and exercising is the main pass time.

There is an Anhinga nest, bottom center, with an Adult and smaller chick.

The Great Egret on the right is on the ‘resting’ branch. Birds all over the rookery land there, preen, sleep, and in general hide from the family.

All in all it’s a beautiful scene most people never get to see.
