Whatever this one ate, it was big because he is looking a little ‘lumpy’. Probably will be sleeping here for days unless an Owl spots him.
I’m not big on sticking my camera close to snakes, this is with a long lens.
I prefer angles like this to show the snake (maybe 4 feet – 1.2 meters) and the environment. This old log was a great place for him to stretch out.
Once we found the fat Brown Water Snake we started to look for more. This water snake (?) was also curled up along some old logs. There are no shortage of logs out there…miles of them.
The last snake of the day was smaller than all the others, but more awake.
I might have taken the above differently had I noticed the small lizard he was stalking. I moved towards them and unfortunately for the snake the lizard noticed me and fled.
Note: I believe all 3 snakes are Brown Water Snakes and are not venimous.
