This Green Heron, a smaller wading bird, is on the remains of an old bridge. This was once the only connection from a large populated   island to the Charleston main land. The first span here dates back to the mid 1700s.

The remnants of this bridge are now part of a walkway and pier. Shore birds love it and there is always a good photo op around here.
