It was a ‘road less traveled’, a back trail on a dike so we could get closer to a tremendous flock of birds. Climbed over down trees, and up the trail until we crossed a trunk (old wooden water gate). And yes, half way across TRex is there.

At this point Alligators are just a fact of life out there, but this was different. Huge, mud covered, moving along towards the incline in our trail. He made no aggressive moves to us, except wanting our space.

We kept going our way, but I knew we had to pass him again to get back. We took what shots we could and returned, past this guy, and all was good.

Look at his teeth and see how ground down they are. He is very, very, old. Could be in his 60s.

I could not get anything but his head in my viewfinder. He was way too big.

Alligators don’t really bother people, even huge ones. I think it was the fact there was no fear of humans in him. Been around a long time in these marshes.

This one got my attention.
