Barred Owl, Swamp

This photograph was part of a series taken a few months ago. I managed to catch the Owl in the shallow water. Bullfrogs and Crayfish are abundant here.

I came across this image in the ‘to do’ and used a filter to lighten the photos top half. It was dark under the heavy leaf canopy.

Barred Owls have been nesting in the area for a few years now. On this day there were 2 moving around the cypress trees.

  1. Oh I just LOVE this photo! I’m so jealous, I’ve been trying to find myself an owl to photograph, or at least to see one in the wild for 4 years, and haven’t had any luck. This one is my unicorn…. one day.

    1. Oh, I’m sure I probably have had owls watching me instead of the other way around. I actually think it’s that way with a lot of things. I always wonder when walking through a rainforest how many snakes I am missing out on that must be watching me walk past them!
