I’ve been lucky this year with the large number of Tricolored Herons we have had. Seeing this many has allowed me to watch more of their behavior.
This photograph is a good example of the concentration they have and the agility they bring to the hunt.
They have the focus of a Great Blue Heron and the drama of a Snowy Egret. They are a treat to watch.

They truly are beautiful. I don’t think I appreciated them as much until this year.
One of my ‘to do’ projects is to be a collection for a large series of galleries here. The number of expressive images this year is huge and I hate to see them go in a black hole.
