I almost missed this series, a Great Egret can stand still in the same spot longer than me. I was just starting to move when I saw him begin to stalk.

By this time the big lens felt like a brick, thankfully he didn’t stop and freeze again.

Instead of looking in the water he was intent on the roots and brush on the marsh edge. Usually that means he spotted an Anole, small lizard.

The strike and grab was quick. Turning away I saw it was a Bullfrog.

Once the hunt was over the bird took off into the reeds. Any other birds see his catch and they will steal it. This Egret knew enough to go hide.
Not for the frog!
Good point
