The first time I ever saw a Roseate Spoonbill was on this tree. Most every bird in these marshes will rest here, but it’s still known as the Spoonbill Tree.

This day I think the most at any time was maybe 4 Spoonbills. I have seen it with up to 20, and that is a circus.

Several Great Egrets landed for a while.

A White Ibis stayed  longer than all the others.

The Spoonbills watch us watching them. There is enough water between the dike and this small island for them to feel comfortable.

At one point I left to walk further down the dike and a large clap of thunder shook all of us. They tree emptied out. We left too since it is not a great place to ride out a storm.
