This is a Spoonbill sleeping in a low hanging branch. The angle was great, besides being close, because you can clearly see the hidden orange color breeding birds can have.

Most photographs can’t show the vivid tail feathers.
So technically Spoonbills are pink and orange.
How nice to get this fine closeup and to catch the orange feathers!
Like other birds, they are very colorful in the right light (and angle). Not that pink isn’t enough 🙂

It was a good year for Spoonbills. They seem to have moved further out into the marshes where I am so finding good photographs is getting even more difficult.

I don’t catch the full colors like that very often. This is full breeding coloration.
