A fairly young Night Heron tucked into a rookery tree. He had eased out just enough to sit in the sun but still be hidden.

This one was very hard to spot and it was probably luck we even noticed. I don’t think he could fly well at this point even with it being late in the season.

I have never seen a young Black-crowned Night Heron. I saw only an adult. He looks so cute. That is one great photograph, Ted!
