For some reason the Black-crowned Night Herons were flying around and circling. The important part here is the ‘circle’. They are fast and the more chances they give you the better your odds of actually getting a good shot.
I think this is the first photograph of what may be the best Night Heron day I have had.

Wow! They’re so hard to capture in flight!
They breed on a small island near this marsh and they were everywhere. I hit a spot that I was able to get them pretty easy.
