Kingfisher, Tormenting Me

If you photograph wildlife you’ll know this is one of the most difficult birds to photograph. More than fast, erratic flight, and can even come to a dead stop in midair. Hates people too.

A mated pair, male and female so an assumption, circled around me for a long time. I was out in the open on a dike, having a clear shot was not an issue. Focus was the problem.

In order to keep one in my viewfinder I had to pull back away from a decent zoom. Shooting them above 300 mm  gave me blue sky, no bird.

Cloud cover changed my settings constantly here. After a gazillion shots I walked on.

This makes me appreciate the Charleston Pitt Street Bridge. The only Kingfisher (in the universe) who ‘tolerates’ people lives there.

I’m convinced every magazine or ad with one of these birds is using the ‘Queen Of Pitt Street’ (her nickname).
