The last week or so there had been tremendous Bald Eagle activity. Unlike a damn or other planned area these birds are hunting all over the marshlands. Having 5 or 6 at the same time is not usual.
I had no time to setup, or plan anything but grab a few shots. These birds came up from the treeline and just as quick were gone.
The adult, on left, was not giving up the fish and kept spinning away.
Above, the juvenile returned in a few minutes alone, and without the fish.
I am always surprised how agile Eagles can be. Watching one turn, and fly upside down, is astounding.
Great shots! I don’t see too much of this activity around our area, but if you search Conowingo Dam eagles, they’ll fight right in front of you during the winter. I’ve never gone, they say it’s a photog nightmare, trying to squeeze in your tripod. I’m not into fighting over setup space. I prefer to go alone. Or with our significant other, as you/I do too. 🙂
I have seen photos, and heard from others… horrid and a zoo. You will get Eagle shots, they open the damn and the fish drop down stunned on the water. People are pushing for a spot.
I work harder and don’t get the ‘canned’ shots, but these are wild Eagles out where they belong. 😀
