I’ve had Alligators close a road, but never a flock of Storks (and Cormorant and Great Blue). This was a first.

It was almost a scene out of a safari. This dirt road is actually on top of a large dike. The brush on either side goes down into swamp and marsh. So really, no place to go.

I later found out down the right bank was a large school of fish, and a fresh fish kill. Everybody came down for the feast. We just happened to join them.

A large number of Vultures were overhead too. They never land in water but they knew food was down there.

Since we were out numbered and no place to turn we got out of the car and joined them (not too close). Over the next few hours there were some great photo ops.
