Red-shoulder’s are one of the more beautiful raptors. This one had especially bold markings.

Hawks frequent this general location since the swamps there provide all types of prey. This day we spotted numerous birds, mated pairs I assume.

The big problem photographing them is the trees they prefer. Branches and twigs almost always block the view making a clear shot impossible.
