This is a second capture of the Great Blue Herons launch. Not all of these take offs go perfect, but I have never seen one completely fail, not even the juveniles.

Their wing span is huge so seeing this is pretty spectacular. The wings are powerful and beat the air loudly.

Maybe best of all is how graceful these birds are. They stretch out completely from their sharp beak to the end of their long legs.
