Many southern signers of the US Declaration Of Independence were captured and placed in this building before being sent into exile during the Revolutionary War.

After things settled down and the shooting stopped George Washington slept here for 8 days. They probably hung this picture on day 9 and changed the name of the building at the same time.

The Americans sent into exile were shipped of to St. Augustine, Florida. Now we pay a fortune for a beach side hotel room there.
