I came close to completely missing this opportunity, and it was close to perfect. Two Great Egrets were circling this rookery, and each other.
Suddenly one began to chase the other, and this bird (the chaser) twisted to quickly fly eye level along the swamp bank. I was standing in the right spot, this bird ignored me and flew directly in front of me. Perfect !!!
Not really. A big wildlife lens is not made for close encounters. I had to walk backwards while shooting (without falling into the swamp behind). The Egret was too close to fit the viewfinder.
Most photographs were feet, wings, and butt, except for this one.

There was good news, they gave me a few more chances before it got dark.
Awesome! Egrets are so elegant! Beautiful capture!
Thanks so much. With luck more to come. They are just starting to move around the rookeries.
Ted that is a fantastic shot, beautiful bird!!
Helps to have a lot of practice with them, thanks.
Very beautiful bird.
