Charleston has alleys running all along the main streets. Most have been there for hundreds of years. This particular alley connected 2 churches that shared a minister in the 1700’s.

One side of the alley runs along the back of old buildings. The other is more interesting. Here a series of small paths wind through an old cemetery.

The alley still connects main streets and is a convenient short cut for residents that are aware of it.
