This is a Sora, a member of the Rail family. It’s a small ‘chicken’ like bird. Around 9 inches (23 C) they are small, fast, overall invisible.

Sora are one of those birds that when you tell someone what you just saw like ‘I saw a Sora’ you get a blank look. The first I have seen or photographed.
Not a rare bird, but a super shy, hidden, one.

Neither of us noticed the other. I was above on an incline looking over the marsh, he just wandered out of the reeds. They live deep in marshes and have no reason to be in the open.
This one heard my shutter clicks since we were close and disappeared so fast all I caught was a blur.
