Most wading birds, ones that walk and fish in shallows, use the same tricks. The best is to kick and dance in the mud.

Here a few took it to a new level, they ran full speed in the mud.

Added to this performance is the ‘wing flap’ method. This seems to help them keep balance.

In bright sun the wing shade helps birds see under the surface.

All this is effective for the Spoonbills, and entertaining for the photographers.
I feel like dancing on any sunny day. Maybe I will wear pink today. Ha
