The best I could do was try to soften the glare.

This marsh was almost dry and the sun really reflected off the rough bottom. The time of day and angle were wrong, somehow the Avocets didn’t much care.

There were plenty of Avocets taking advantage of the mud flats which were usually in deep water.

They found all types of small ‘thingies’ to eat.
Their plumage is so pretty!
Their colors will become more vibrant soon, very sharp rust colors. Unfortunately that’s right about the time they head north.
They migrate different than many birds. North, way northwest is where they breed.
