He was out in the sun and open swamp allowing for a decent look at all the colors and shades. They are amazing this time of year.
The dark slate wings now have a different shine to them. Usually they are so dark as to be almost black, and impossible to photograph.
Neck and head feathers are deep purple, a magenta.
The lore around eyes are a deep blue that follows right down into the beak.
This is a real beauty for a few months each year. The rest of the time they are deep slate blue.
