This has been a busy year for Barred Owls. I have to believe this pair have been coming here to nest for a few years. They are fairly tolerant of people.

Most people think Owls only hunt at night but it’s really based on how much food they need (feeding young) and the competition for that food. Night time is a preference, not a hard rule.

By now we have a pretty large number of photographs here. It’s time to see what different angles and action we can capture.
I need to be in the perfect spot to photograph a successful dive. They almost always drop down either when I am not ready or behind trees.

If I were more patient and didn’t mine bug bites I could sit here all day and eventually get every shot I want. My choice is less bites and rely on luck to be there.
These are beautiful Ted. I know its easy for me to say from the comfort of my home, but well worth a few bug bites, I’d say!
Most times I would agree LOL. I can usually get by. But not always. Thanks.
