A small Black-crowned Night Heron flew low over this swamp at just about the right time.

He had jumped out of an island and 99% of the time I wouldn’t have even tried for the shot. Fortunately I was getting a test focus and spotted him.

Sometimes I pre-focus on a spot in the general area I hope to shoot. This saves the long lens time when hunting for focus, with luck I’m close already.
It worked here because this is a small fast Heron.
