Charleston, South Carolina was a main port of the southern states. For much of the Civil War it was blockaded. Which meant blockade runners.

Charleston even made a few of the original ironclad war ships, and of course the Hunley submarine.

I don’t believe I have seen any unknown soldiers buried in this old cemetery, but there are many sailors.
