This was the first of several Green Herons I ran into the other day. It was off a back trail we seldom take, maybe never this far.

I believe it was a juvenile, maybe just getting the adult plumage. The leg coloring was a bit green.

Some of the smaller Herons when young have a (strange) green shading.
