When shooting here I lost count of how many Tricolored Herons were around. It may have been the most I’ve seen.
Above a young bird moved out of the thick reeds into some open space. This particular area has many groves of cane and reeds separated by what look to be canals, or creeks.
An environment like this will support just about any type of wildlife. In a few months the migratory ducks will arrive and fill the open waters. Until then the wading birds have taken over.
