Here she is, meet Mom. A lovely lady who is sure to watch over the children. Alligators are the only reptile that will stay with their young, up to two years.
Above is Mom floating maybe 15 feet off the swamp bank. Just in the ‘muck’ watching. When you see a small one, look around. Chances are Mom is nearby.
Meet the little darling. Almost a teenager in Alligator years. A guess is he was about two years old. Big enough to be interesting, but not enough to be a concern.
Mom continued to watch. Not like she had anything else to do anyway.
Note; Mom is really only truly aggressive when the babies are first born. She will hiss and profile with people coming too close. Other animals… that’s different.
