This was taken in a marsh close to our home, where I have not been for a while. A back retention pond was low, the water let out to the river.
Everything was quiet until the very back, near the river.
The area near the trunk (water gate) had about a representative of every species of Heron in the Lowcountry.
This Green heron was moving through the dead tree limbs stalking all kinds of invisible things.
I never did see what he was watching but the birds knew fish were coming through the open trunk and were not about to let us get in their way.
