A Few Locals, Alligators

A Few Locals, Alligators

The images here were all taken at Donnelley Wildlife Management Area. This location is well known for the large population of Alligators. I find the largest around to be living here.

August heat slows everything down, the Alligators being no exception. Late spring you can find them walking all around, now they are cooling off in the water.

The one above is hiding where the most are, in or near the tall reeds. They can cool off with a swim, then hide in the shade.

This is where Alligators belong, not on a golf course or ponds at a housing community. This year there have been more than the usual Alligator incidents with people. Unfortunately people tend to feed them when small and in local ponds.

Bad idea, they grow up quickly.
