Since most of the birds have moved to marshes and the shore our time out is spread between multiple locations. And of course each one requires some kind of hike in the heat.
This Little Blue Heron was out near the Ashley River and the old back rice fields of a plantation. A corner of the pond is heavy with cane and reeds.
It was a pretty scene so I stayed and watched him hunt around for a while. Back here they are seeking snakes, lizards, and whatever else they can find in the cane.
