The younger Tricolors may be the best looking of all the Herons. They have so many layers and shades of color that get even better as the get close to being adults.
We seem to be finding them most places we visit.
Herons in general will eat anything. But the mid sized Tricolors can snack all day on things you almost can’t see.
It was interesting that this bird would sit and wait for a fish when all around were ‘tiny thingies’ in the mud to catch.
These Herons are beautifully photographed, the picture with its bill open is my favorite.
Thanks so much. These Tricolors have been giving us plenty of practice.
What a beautiful bird, and great shots!
Thanks. It’s been a busy year with these Tricolored Herons.
