Quick Escape, Great Egret

Quick Escape, Great Egret

This was taken from a ‘blind spot’.  Along a dike there is an open water area with a truck used with the flowing water. Grass is high and it is hidden until you step into the open.

The 10 foot (3 meter) drop gives anything down there the edge, they see you first. I try to be ready, half the time they beat me though.

Not this time.

The Egret jumped into the air about the same time I started to photograph him. At ten frames a second I can catch the flight if image one is in focus.

    1. We are in a lull now with them ourselves. They should be flocking soon, thousand at a time in the marshes. I’m not sure they will though. Heat and sun is more like summer still this may throw timing off. Almost Oct. and yet it’s almost 100 out. The subtropics are the new tropics.
