There are times a Heron will pretend to ignore us, like we are not there. If I want to move around one, or get another angle I do the same. No eye contact works for both of us.
Not here though. You can see in the photograph above he was staring me down, and talking back.
He stayed right there, but no mistaking he had attitude.
Love when they do that! Does make you think twice about stepping a little closer…. 😉
Oh yeah. When the young Great Blue fledge they have landed on the rookery trails, sometimes within a few feet of us. Tall birds !
