Boynton house, off a dirt road, then down a dirt road.
This road will be closed off in another week, since I could see it between the trees I stopped.
Each winter roads here are closed to protect the environment and migrating wildlife.
There’s always a chance part may fall in and it’s a beautiful old house so why not keep photographs up to date.
Note; The Boyton family ran a cattle ranch is this swamp/marsh probably 100 years ago. This is all that remains within a wildlife management area.
Pure history:). Lovely pics, as always. Have a nice weekend:)
Appreciate it. Good weekend back at ya.
Spooky
It must have been amazing in it’s day. The last type of building I would expect to be out there. Almost Victorian. In literally the middle of nowhere. Even today it is at the end of a 4 mile dirt road. 100 years ago there was no road.
What a fascinating old house. I love that they close the roads for such noble purposes. Interesting family name….wonder if there’s a direct connection with the Boynton of our city here in Palm Beach County – Boynton Beach. Oddly enough, many areas of Florida were used for cattle ranching not so long ago.
When this was a cattle ranch there were no roads, only swamp and marsh. Not to mention Carolina Panthers, Red Wolves, and of course the Alligators. The closest road is still 4 miles. Odd place for cattle.
I find it amazing to think of the pioneers who first settled Florida with the swamps and marshes, too. Seems equally amazing that they did cattle ranching here.
This was my great grandfather’s house, my dad is still living.William Skinner Boynton he is 93,He had passed down many stories. I have a pic of him as an infant in a stroller in front of the house
Wow, that’s great. The craftsmanship on the house is amazing ! Thanks so much for letting me know a little more on the history. Tell your dad how much people love the home.
