It’s only Duck Weed but at times it’s so thick it looks to be solid.
Note; Duckweed is an important high-protein food source for waterfowl. The tiny plants provide cover for fry of many aquatic species. The plants are used as shelter by pond-water species such as bullfrogs and fish such as bluegills.
It does look really solid! Had never heard of duck weed!
It looks solid because there are so many. It is actually the smallest flowering plant in the world.
