I have no idea how long this Red-shouldered Hawk was sitting there. I never saw him come in, so my guess is he was right in front of me the whole time.

Below the Hawk is a wetlands field of reeds, cattails, and tall grass. These Hawks hunt here all the time.


A few minutes after these were shot the bird silently dropped down into the marsh, and never came back up.
It’s safe to assume his quiet waiting above paid off with a meal.
