Perhaps it was a fashion statement. This, or something close, was the original color. Pink House has been the description for a very long time.
Located in the Charleston French Quarter, on an old cobble stone street, makes this one of the favorite photographs of visitors (obviously me too).
Some claims have been made this is one of the oldest buildings, masonry/brick, in the US. A bit suspect since the entire neighborhood is from the same era. However it has survived fires, earthquakes, wars, and plenty of hurricanes.
Throughout the years, the house has been used as a tavern + brothel, a law office, a private residence, and art gallery.
This is why I walk around town. Just pick a street, stroll, and find some ‘great stuff’.
