These are a few random images taken as the ‘Playboy’ (a commercial shrimper) came back to port. I’m sure there will be several articles published, it was great fun to watch and photograph.
The birds, and at times Dolphin, wait and then attack for their share of the catch. It’s a daily ritual during the season.
Above taken as the boat turned to slide up to the pier. If you look in the background a Snowy Egret is going down inside the catch box for shrimp. Not waiting at all for his hand out.
This day it was the Egrets, not Pelican, that moved in for the free food.
I was standing on the opposite pier and was able to see all sides of boat as she turned to tie up.
There were pirates on every side.
As the crew tied up and began to unload they just pushed past the outlaws paying them no attention. The pirates for their part waited for the occasional ‘drop’ or ran around stealing what they could.

I was on the other pier expecting to see the Pelicans take over. Only one or two made any effort. The others sat around on other piers watching. I guess another boat had come in earlier and the Pelicans had gotten their fill.
Fun to watch, and I labeled it (1) because I took so many photos. I’m sure others to follow LOL
