The White Pelicans are the new ‘big guys’ when they come to the marshes. Great Blue Heron don’t always like to give up that role. Heron are much taller, and have sharp beaks, but the Pelican is probably 5/6 times heavier.

I thought this would be a crash because the Herons don’t move away quickly.

This time the Pelican changed course enough to go around him. In a group the Pelican will run right over the Herons, like they are not even there.

Note; in the background is an Alligator head. Just in case something happens that he can take advantage of.
