The males have started the building process. Some have even enticed a mate with their new nests.
This can be a great time of year to catch the birds in flight over the swamps.
Light on the water is soft, and there are few branches with leaves to block a view.
Of course there is less activity but we are rusty with getting shots like these anyway. The help is appreciated.
Wonderful shots, Ted. I must say, though, that the heron’s contribution to the nest seems to be awfully modest.
LOL. I agree. When first starting a nest I think there is some trial and error. Though I have seen a male bring twigs and the female promptly through them away. 😀
