Portrait, Eastern Phoebe

This is an example of how knowing your subject can make an image.

This is particularly true for me. I have little patience, a not so great shoulder,  and heavy gear.

When hunting insects a Phoebe will fly back and forth between two spots. In this case two low branches over a swamp. The insects were on the waters surface.

To catch the bird I had time to do a real setup and just wait until he returned to my target branch. He did, several times.

I missed him coming and going. But because of the feeding habit I captured these. More of a portrait than wildlife photograph because of the settings and bokeh.

Now if he would only teach the other birds this trick I might more small bird photographs.
